The product
What is BrowseOtter?
BrowseOtter records a browser task you do once and replays it automatically, on demand or on a schedule. It matches elements using several signals, so a replay can survive small page changes.
Is it an AI agent?
No. It repeats the steps you recorded. It does not decide what to do or understand pages on its own. Adaptive matching means it tries several ways of finding the same element, not that it uses AI.
What can it record and replay?
Navigation, clicks, typing into fields, selecting options, scrolling, waiting, and extracting text, attributes, lists, or tables into named results you can read in the run log.
What can't it do?
File uploads and downloads, drag-and-drop, solving CAPTCHAs, browser chrome such as extension popups or chrome:// pages, and interacting inside cross-origin iframes are not supported. Pages on private or internal network addresses (including localhost) are blocked for safety.
How do I record a workflow?
Install the BrowseOtter Recorder extension, create an API token under Settings, paste the token and your app URL into the extension, then press record, do the task, and save. The recording appears under Recordings. You can also import a recording from a JSON file.
Do runs happen at an exact time?
Runs are queued and executed by our worker, so there is no guaranteed start time. A scheduled hourly, daily, or weekly run is queued when it is due and starts when the worker picks it up, which can be delayed. BrowseOtter is early access software.
Why did my run fail?
Open the run in Run Logs. A failed run shows the step number, the action, the site origin, how many attempts were made, and a diagnostic ID. The usual causes are a changed page, a login that needs fresh credentials, or a site that blocks automation. Edit the step or re-record it, then run again.
Plans and billing
What is free and what is Pro?
Free: up to 3 recordings, 1 active schedule, and 10 runs per rolling 24 hours. Pro ($5 per month, or $10 once for lifetime): unlimited recordings, schedules, and runs.
How do I upgrade or cancel?
Upgrade from the Upgrade page. Cancel any time from the billing portal in Settings; you keep Pro until the end of the month you paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. A full refund of your first Pro payment if you ask within 14 days. Renewals are not refundable except for billing errors or where the law requires. See the Refunds page.
What happens if my payment fails?
Your payment provider retries the charge. If it still cannot be collected, your account returns to the Free plan. Your recordings are kept.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Whatever our payment provider offers at checkout, which includes major cards. We never see your full card number.
Security and your data
Do you store my passwords?
Passwords you type while recording are never saved in the recording. If you want a replay to sign in, you add the login under Credentials. Stored credentials are encrypted at rest and decrypted only in memory while a run needs them. Your BrowseOtter account password is hashed by our authentication provider.
What are saved sessions?
After a successful run, BrowseOtter can keep the browser's session state, encrypted, so the next run does not need to log in again. It is deleted after 30 days without use, and you can revoke all saved sessions in Settings.
What do run videos and screenshots contain?
They show the pages that were automated, so they can contain personal data from those sites. They are private to your account, available only through short-lived links, and deleted automatically after 30 days.
What does the extension have access to?
It records your actions on pages only after you start recording, and sends the steps only to the BrowseOtter server you configure, using your own API token. Password field values are never recorded.
How do I delete my data or account?
Settings → Delete Account removes your account and all your data immediately and cancels any active subscription. See Data deletion for details, and the Privacy Policy for what we collect and why.
Can I get my recordings out?
Yes. Every recording has an Export as JSON action, and you can import the file again later.
